Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced on Monday that the Edge of Life Ramadan campaign raised more than 2.8 billion dirhams from individuals, institutions, humanitarian organizations, and major donors, with a total of 44 thousand contributors.
Sheikh Mohammed, who also serves as UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, took to social media to announce the conclusion of the charity campaign as the holy fasting month of Ramadan draws to a close.
The Edge of Life campaign aimed at rescuing five million children worldwide from death due to hunger, and preventing another 30 million children from slipping into malnutrition that leads to death.
Upon launching the campaign on February 13, Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that it reflects the UAE’s founding values and embodies the nation’s commitment to being a global example of generosity, inspiring positive impact worldwide.
The Edge of Life campaign was launched in partnership with a group of international organizations with the main goal of raising at least one billion dirhams locally and internationally.
Partners include the UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger.
